Rs 100 Crore Defamation Case Filed Over Claims Involving Suryakumar Yadav
A major controversy has erupted on social media after a Rs 100 crore defamation case was filed against actress and influencer Khushi Mukherjee over her remarks involving Indian cricketer and T20I captain Suryakumar Yadav.
The legal action was initiated by social media influencer Faizan Ansari, who filed a complaint on January 13 at the Ghazipur police station. The case follows Mukherjee’s earlier statement in which she claimed that Suryakumar Yadav “used to message her a lot.”
Complaint Filed in Ghazipur
Faizan Ansari, a Mumbai-based influencer, travelled to Ghazipur to pursue the filing of an FIR. In his complaint, he alleged that Mukherjee’s statements were false, defamatory, and made purely for publicity, potentially damaging the reputation of a national-level sportsperson.
Ansari demanded strict legal action against the actress and called for serious charges, stating that such claims could harm not just an individual but the image of Indian cricket as well.
‘False and Defamatory Statements,’ Says Ansari
Speaking to the media, Ansari said:
“We want an FIR to be registered immediately against Khushi Mukherjee. These statements are false and defamatory. As someone with millions of followers, I feel it is my responsibility to raise my voice. I only want justice.”
He further stated that he would remain in Ghazipur until legal action is initiated and emphasized that he is not afraid of any pressure or obstacles.
Rs 100 Crore Defamation Suit and Legal Warning
Explaining the scale of the legal action, Ansari said he has filed a Rs 100 crore defamation suit, adding that his legal team is strong and experienced. He also mentioned that similar legal action had previously been taken in other cases.
Ansari clarified that if Mukherjee is able to prove her claims with evidence, he would publicly accept his mistake. However, until then, he urged citizens across the country to support Suryakumar Yadav, calling the controversy an attempt to tarnish the cricketer’s reputation.
What Khushi Mukherjee Had Claimed
The controversy began when Khushi Mukherjee, during a public interaction, stated that:
“Many cricketers are after me. Surya kumar used to message me a lot.”
Although she added that there was no romantic relationship, the remarks quickly went viral, leading to intense backlash on social media.
Actress Issues Clarification Amid Backlash
Following the growing controversy, Mukherjee issued a clarification in an interview with NDTV. She stated that her comments were taken out of context and exaggerated, leading to widespread misunderstanding.
She clarified that:
She never had a romantic relationship with Suryakumar Yadav
Any past communication was purely friendly
They are no longer in touch
She has not spoken to him after the controversy
Her Instagram account had allegedly been hacked
Mukherjee also extended her best wishes to Team India and Suryakumar Yadav for the upcoming World Cup.
How the Controversy Started
The issue first surfaced after Mukherjee made remarks at a recent event while responding to a question about dating cricketers. She said she did not want to date any cricketer and did not want her name linked with Suryakumar Yadav.
These comments quickly spread online, triggering public outrage and eventually leading to the filing of the defamation case.
Final Thoughts
The controversy highlights how public statements, especially involving high-profile personalities, can quickly escalate into serious legal matters. As the case unfolds, all eyes will be on the legal proceedings and official responses from the parties involved.
